About Us
After retiring from 25 years of teaching chemistry in the inner city, Wendy Y. Wurz welcomed the chance to take a new direction toward her true calling. She had always been creative and enjoyed discovering her unimaginable capabilities, so she began to explore different ways to express herself. There were her shoe stories with illustrations, then web searches involving former embroidery and sewing hobbies, before she came across the modern concept called free motion embroidery.
Wendy’s business is all about bringing joy and wonder to others. With the help of her trusty circa 1889 Domestic treadle sewing machine, named Bessie, she creates fabric paintings of beloved pets using the free motion embroidery method. She also makes smaller, unique items to sell at craft fairs or in local boutiques. Her ability to add life to her portraits results in a handmade keepsake to be treasured for years. She feels exhilarated when collaborating with her clients and empowering them to be more expressive and creative.
